Create Your Own Team
When you create a team, you are automatically
added and assigned "Team Captain" status. This enables you to
sign-up the whole team or selected eligible members of your team
for volunteer activities. It also allows you to add, remove
and email members of your team.
Here's how to Create
Your Own Team:
|
Step 1: |
From the Member Center
(you must be logged in to do this), select “Create a
Volunteering Team” |
|
Step 2: |
Enter Team Name
(required) and a description and intended number of
members (optional) |
|
Step 3: |
Select whether a) this
team is open to the general public (anyone can join your
team) or b) this team is open to invited members only
(only the people you select will be able to join your
team) |
|
Step 4: |
Please select the
General Affiliation of your team if appropriate
(optional) |
|
Step 5: |
If your team is
associated with a particular organization, please "Find
an entity" and select your organization. If your
organization is not listed, you can "Create a New
Entity." (optional) |
|
Step 6: |
Click “Next” |
|
Step 7: |
Add the first and last
names of each individual you wish to add to your team.
We strongly recommend that you also add their email
address, as an invitation to join your team will be
sent to them via email. With the exception of projects
that are part of a VCLA Annual Event, you will not be
able to sign up members of your team for projects unless
they have confirmed (by responding to the email
invitation) that they wish to be a part of your team.
Select "Add team member" after each one – note if
the volunteer is under 18, you must also
enter their age |
|
Step 8: |
Once all team members
have been added, click “Next” |
|
Step 9: |
Check the boxes next to
any skills your team has and click “Next” |
|
Step 10: |
Check the boxes next to
any interests your team has and click “FINISH.”
If you do not hit FINISH,
all information you have entered will be lost! |

Important things to note when
creating a team:
·
Invitations –
The system will send an email to all team members inviting them
to join your team. They must accept this invitation before you
will be able to sign them up for projects.
·
Restrictions -
Members of your team who do not meet certain eligibility
requirements may be unable to participate in certain projects or
courses
o
Age –
If members of your group do not meet the minimum age
requirements, you will not be able to sign them up for
o
FLEXible Volunteer Program - To sign-up
for these projects, you must first attend an orientation. You
will not be able to sign up members of your team for Flex
projects unless they are a member of this program.

o
Court ordered volunteers
are prohibited from participating in certain projects. If
members of your group are court referred, you may not be able to
sign them up for certain projects.
·
Check Availability –
if you sign up members of your team, they are automatically
signed up for that activity, so please check they are available
and wish to participate before signing them up
·
Maximum Team Size Allowed –
As many of the projects listed were not designed for group
participation (particularly Flex projects), all teams are asked
to be respectful of this when signing up for projects. Within
each project description, you should see "Maximum Team Size
Allowed." This will state the maximum number of people that one
team is permitted to sign up for that project. While the system
may allow you to sign up more than this, please honor this
number.
